Minister Galant in Samaria: I will act to implement sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. The settlement enterprise is the key to holding onto the Land, to sovereignty and to Zionism
Minister of Immigration and Absorption, member of the Security Policy Cabinet Gen. (res.) Yoav Galant, visited the communities of the Samaria Local Council on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019.
During his visit, he toured throughout the area of the council and met with Head of Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan and Head of Local Council of Karnei Shomron Yigal Lahav.
In the process of his visit, Minister Galant declared: "I came here to tell the public in Israel and especially the residents of Judea and Samaria that we have the historic right and security requirement to maintain full control of this area".
According to him, "Settlement is the key for holding onto the Land, for sovereignty and for Zionism. The area of Judea and Samaria is the State of Israel's defensive belt". During his visit he committed himself personally to promoting the implementation of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
The Sovereignty Movement welcomes Minister Galant's clear and resolute words, which express the position held by the great majority of his new party, the Likud, as evidenced by the unanimous vote in the party's central committee one year ago, when it was determined that the Likud's political vision is the application of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, and that the party is committed to this vision.
The co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, continue, noting that indeed, after many years of declarations and pronouncements by the national camp's public's representatives about their commitment to the vision of sovereignty, the time has come to realize and implement the vision both practically and legislatively. "Minister Galant's words on the commitment to the implementation of the vision match his resolute words in the past about our sovereign and exclusive right to the area between the Jordan River and the sea, a right that blends well with the security requirements necessary to maintain and fortify the future of the People of Israel in its Land".
