The Sovereignty Movement welcomes Defense Minister Naftali Bennett’s latest steps in implementing practical measures to advance toward the implementation of the vision of sovereignty.

The movement is referring to Minister Bennett’s steps in general, with the highlight being the report that the minister has led a number of discussions aimed at subordinating the lands department of the Civil Administration to the Ministry of Justice, the effect of which would be to balance the way the residents of the communities in Judea and Samaria are treated to the way the rest of the citizens of Israel are treated in this area.

Balancing the conditions in the communities to those of the other parts of the Land will reduce the tremendous bureaucratic burden, which has hampered the extent of settlement activity in Judea and Samaria and has unreasonably prolonged the amount of time for answers to be obtained.

Minister Bennett is quoted from closed conversations where he related to the course of action: “This is actually only a procedural application of sovereignty, full sovereignty is under the authority of the political echelon, but this is a step in the right direction. There is no reason for the continued discrimination against the residents of Judea and Samaria; we must stop this. The residents of Beit El and Ariel are no less Zionist than the residents of Kfar Saba and Tel Aviv. They pay taxes and serve in the military, and must receive the same services from the state”.

The co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, welcome the steps that Minister Bennett has taken, steps that strengthen the hold of the Jewish People on the heart of their Land and advance steps toward sovereignty in Judea and Samaria in a practical way. However, the two women note that this is part of a Sisyphean battle for a practical change of policy in Judea and Samaria, step by step; while the entire process of applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria will be a true and comprehensive solution for the entire problem. “The application of sovereignty will be not only a just step historically, but also a practical answer for the civil rights of hundreds of thousands of residents of Judea and Samaria today and the hundreds of thousands that will join in the near future”.
