Dear Friends,
Mo’adim lesimha – Happy holidays.
Following Yom Kippur, we parted from a great woman, a leader and pioneer in establishing and anchoring the renewwd Jewish settlement enterprise in Israel's Biblical Heartland.
In the complete purity of the hours after Yom Kippur, Rabbanit Miriam Levinger, z”l passed away.
Rabbanit Levinger was the beating heart of the settlement from its inception, a courageous and fearless fighter for the Land of Israel, the People of Israel and the Torah of Israel. The Rabbanit stood as a solid rock alongside her late husband, Rav Moshe Levinger, zts”l, since the days of the entry into the Park Hotel and leading the heroic entry to Beit Hadassah in Hevron, thereby renewing the Jewish community in the City of the Fathers.

Rabbanit Miriam was a guiding light of clear and pure truth to us. Even if her words were not always popular, she did not fear from saying them with the resolve and determination of love for the Land and the People.
The Rabbanit instilled in the Settlement enterprise the principle that we must take the first small step and the Almighty would help with the subsequent steps. This is how we acted and this is how the lovers of the Land and its residents acted, who tread the path that she paved for us, and by virtue of her strength, we have the merit of a glorious and wonderful settlement enterprise in the Land of Israel.
May the Rabbanit’s family be comforted in the building of Zion, Hevron and Jerusalem. May her path and her memory be blessed, may her ways and her devotion to the Land of Israel be an eternal testament for us all.
The Youth and the Sovereignty Vision
The Sovereignty Youth Movement is currently preparing for a significant hasbara campaign.
We spoke with three of the group’s leaders, who never stop challenging themselves, to understand their role in the chain of the Zionist vision and from this group, no doubt, will arise Israel’s next generation of leadership, strong in spirit and healthy in its national soul.
Eliahu Friedman tells of the “Explaining Sovereignty” initiative, which the youth is undertaking, “from the deep understanding that once the youth understands what sovereignty is, why sovereignty is necessary, and they have answers to the basic questions that arise during the process of sovereignty, the subject will burn within them and they will want to continue to fight for it”.
Talia Ram-On adds: “The goal of the campaign is to explain to the youth throughout the country the basic concepts of sovereignty, to get them involved and explain to them why the application of sovereignty is a feasible and important step that must be taken soon. To give them a reason to strive and fight for this important step that must be taken, as well as basic knowledge with which they will be able to disseminate the idea onward to all the circles that they belong to”.
Friedman explains that in the opinion of the Sovereignty Youth Movement, “most of the youth in Israel is not aware of the great importance of sovereignty and how urgent it is”.
In order to provide an answer appropriate for the youths’ world, the initiative will include a great variety of channels of activity – videos clips, flyers, lectures in yeshiva and girls’ schools, activities in youth movements branch affiliates, questions and answers on social networks and more.
“The project will continue for two and a half to three weeks, during which the members in the youth movement’s headquarters will serve as ambassadors wherever they live and study and will make the materials accessible to their friends”.
Ram-On expands on this: “During the campaign, there will be hasbara posts on Sovereignty Youth’s Facebook and Instagram pages, and there will be short hasbara videos on our YouTube channel. The posts and videos will also be disseminated by the movement’s activists via WhatsApp, and G-d willing, will spread throughout the entire Land by other youths who will understand the importance following the hasbara campaign.
There will also be hasbara ads on sovereignty in the newspapers and Shabbat leaflets”.
Also, Talia Ram-On notes, “there will be a Sovereignty Shabbat in the youth movements, where there will also be hasbara activities on the subject and there will be discussions on Zoom or face to face, if it will be possible by then, for classes/schools and other youth forums.
Friedman and Bar-On also say that “during these three weeks, we will hold intensive days of special activities, such as a day of activity with members of Knesset, setting up booths throughout the Land, hanging signs, etc.”.
Itamar Yom Tov, who is also part of the Sovereignty Youth leadership, summarizes: “During the last activity between the summer seminar and the booths that we did, we saw that our youth has a lot of knowledge, but there is still more to aspire to.
The youth knows what sovereignty is, but there are still points that are gray and vague to them. This is why we in the youth leadership thought of setting out in a campaign with both an outward and inward focus. The campaign will be called Explaining Sovereignty and its objective will be to raise the level of knowledge among our youth and among the youth in general in the Land”.
Yom Tov calls on the youth and the adults to follow up the activity in social media and from there, to jo8n into a variety of practical activities in the field.
The Sovereignty Youth’s media team, as well as the team that is responsible for content and editing the hasbara materials for the youth movement and the social media teams are already working towards embarking on a general media campaign, that will end with the traditional yearly Hanukah Sovereignty seminar.
Recommendation:
We recommend the new song by Israel Jerofi, who is not affected by the setbacks in the steps of sovereignty and reminds all of us who this Land belongs to. Even if you don't speak Hebrew you will enjoy the clip and the upbeat song with the message:: the entire Israel is our Land. G-d gave us this Land. The People of Israel are strong, alive and well and are here to stay forever, in our Land, the Land of the Jewish People.
Chag sameach, Happy holidays and Shabbat Shalom
