MK Abutbul: I hope for cooperation between the Land of Israel Lobby and the Sovereignty Movement

MK Rav Moshe Abutbul (Shas) met with the co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement: We must strive for sovereignty without a Palestinian state, but a lot depends on the Likud. We should exert pressure on Netanyahu and the ministers.

During another visit that the co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, held at the Knesset, the two women met with a number of leading members of Knesset to encourage the promotion of steps toward sovereignty independent of any political deal that includes the establishment of a Palestinian state.

One of the important meetings that the two held was with Member of Knesset Rav Moshe Abutbul of Shas, a member of the Land of Israel Lobby who had participated in a tour held by the lobby a few days ago at Gush Etzion, a visit that dealt with how the young settlement must cope with  agents of the PA over state lands in Area C, on an ongoing basis.

Katsover and Matar note with great satisfaction, how the idea of sovereignty was warmly received by Member of Knesset Abutbul and the remarks that he gave during the visit at Oz veGaon, about his public commitment to the Land of Israel and Israeli sovereignty over the entire Land.

Member of Knesset Abutbul also summarizes the meeting with leaders of the Sovereignty Movement with satisfaction. “I am glad to be a member of the Land of Israel Lobby under the leadership of Members of Knesset Smotrich and Katz, he said, noting that in light of data that was  revealed to him and other members of Knesset during the tour about the difficulties experienced by the young settlement, “We will lend a hand to this settlement. We learned a lot about the need for this”.

According to him, the political discourse should strive toward a process of sovereignty that will prevent and block the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria. This is where the effort should be focused and this is what the discourse should be about. Yehudit Katsover and Naida Matar are pushing hard on this issue and we must work toward this”.

However, Member of Knesset Abutbul commented that since in the present political reality the Likud is the central and dominant ruling party, pressure must be exerted on the Prime Minister and the ministers to bring them to the conclusion that Israel must demand sovereignty without any connection to a Palestinian state. “I believe that we will succeed in this, but much depends on the Likud”, he says.

Abutbul concludes his remarks with the hope to promote joint initiatives with the Sovereignty Movement in the spirit of the vision of sovereignty, via the platform of which he is a member, the platform of the Land of Israel Lobby.

The head of Jordan Valley Council believes, with all his heart, in the vision of sovereignty, but when sovereignty was proposed in the Jordan Valley in the framework of the Trump plan, he vehemently opposed it.
