Greetings and blessings to our dear friends,
Although there still may be surprises from the American court, it seems that Joe Biden will be the next president of the U.S. and we on the grassroots and the Government of Israel in its leadership , we will all have to act to develop the settlement enterprise and maintain Israel’s defensive and historic interests. It will be much more difficult than during the Trump era, but we must remember one foundational principle: We are a sovereign, independent and advanced state, and as such, it is not the identity of whoever sits in the White House that will determine our future, but the actions of the leadership in Jerusalem. First and foremost, it is important what the Jews do!
The government of Israel has succeeded in the past with hostile administrations, by various means, and although in the near future, we do not expect it to be as easy as it was during the Trump era, significant changes have occurred since the days of Obama and his predecessors. The People of Israel is much more right-wing and nationalist than in the past, hearts are much more willing than in the past to understand the importance of the vision of sovereignty and its implementation, the elected representatives of the public in Knesset know well that this vision has support in the Israeli street and they are committed to it. All of this was almost non-existent during the period of Obama and Bush, but exists strongly in the present era.
We must continue to encourage the leaders’ spirit and give them the practical feeling that the battle for sovereignty in the field of policy also yields fruit in the political field.
They recognize very well the spirit of the People and if this spirit is song and clear, the elected representatives will act accordingly.
Outreach – from the springs outward
In order to create the same public spirit calling for sovereignty, we must augment the internal conversation in Israel in a dignified and respectful way. We will discuss in depth among ourselves the meaning of our ethical purpose in the Land of Israel, the importance of clinging to our Land and settling it, and from this, we will set out to meet with additional audiences and keep the discourse of sovereignty on every stage and in every arena.
As part of this important outreach activity we will need to work vigorously to correct the dangerous traps hidden between the sections of the Deal of the Century. We will have to clarify anew and more strongly that the term sovereignty is completely detached from any transaction and any deal that includes within it an ideological or practical agreement to establish a foreign state in the heart of our homeland. We will have to work hard even within the right-wing camp to emphasize what sovereignty we are talking about, the sovereignty that the Jewish people yearn for, true sovereignty that is all about returning the people of Israel to all parts of their land without reservation and without playing games.
It will be difficult, but we are not afraid of difficulties and we are preparing for the hasbara struggle that awaits us.
Approaching elections in Israel
One doesn’t have to be an expert in politics to sense the strong upheavals that are rocking the ship of the coalition. The contrived connection of the unity government results in disputes, arguments and severe rifts in the government; there is no budget and coping with the State of Israel’s challenges during this difficult and complex period is not done in a way that is appropriate and necessary.
The conclusion arising from the weak political reality is that to all appearances, it seems that we are again headed toward elections and this time, the issues of the economy, health and social cohesion between the various sectors in Israel will be the focus. It is important that we also address the matter of the Land of Israel and our sovereignty over it.
During this period before the next elections, we will know who is truly faithful to the Land of Israel, we will encourage and back them in the street and in the media. We will act wisely to promote the vision of sovereignty with dialogue, even with those who disagree with us.
We will remember and internalize the fact that the Land of Israel connects the various sectors among the people and not the opposite, Heaven forbid.
Safe travels, with thanks to Minister Miri Regev
We take this opportunity to congratulate our friend, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, for her presentation this week of a master plan for transportation in Judea and Samaria. “The plan, the first of its kind in the area of Judea and Samaria, is intended to formulate a comprehensive vision for transportation in this complex and diverse area, that will support economic and social development and improve the quality of life for its residents”, as written in the statement by the Ministry of Transportation.
Reinforcing and expanding the traffic arteries in Judea and Samaria and their environs is the practical implementation of Israeli sovereignty and a declaration to the world and the People of our intentions to continue to invest in these areas as an integral part of the State of Israel and to view the residents of Judea and Samaria as citizens who should be treated the same as residents of any other area in Israel.
After presenting the plan to the settlement leaders, we hope that Minister Regev will also see the fulfillment of her plan’s goals and cut many ribbons in the dedication ceremonies for new traffic arteries, interchanges and initiatives and other infrastructure projects in Judea and Samaria.
We don’t change our principles
We also praise our friend, former Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, for her clear and unambiguous remarks in an interview for Arutz 7, where she was asked whether, on the way to leadership, her party was liable to swing to the left and center at the expense of right-wing principles.
“We continue to present the same positions. We have not changed our stand, we are the only party that opposes a Palestinian state and promotes sovereignty”, said Shaked, promising that in posing an alternative to the government, the party would not change its principles.
To me, sovereignty is…
And this time our guest columnist is Member of Knesset Moshe Arbel of Shas:
“To me, sovereignty is the fulfillment of the promise, another step in building the Land and the redemption of Israel and national interest for the State of Israel’s security”.
May we ask…

Rebirth of the field and rebirth of the Land
Every year on this Shabbat, we have held the Shabbat of the parasha Hayei Sarah, Shabbat Hevron. From all parts of the Land and even from the entire world, tens of thousands of Jews gathered together to share a Shabbat under the special lights of the forefathers and matriarchs. On these Sabbaths, the People of Israel expressed the understanding that we are the generation of sons that are commanded and committed to realizing the divine promise that they have received “to your seed have I given this Land”.
This year, out of responsibility to our family and each other, we will not gather at Hevron, but we will be together in our hearts, and when we hear the reading of the parasha we will again be reminded of the first purchase, which was the foundation stone for the realization of our right to the Land.
We will remember the legacy of our father Abraham, who left his dwelling place to act and to buy the field and this is how, “And Ephron’s field was made sure”, and according to Rashi’s commentary, “he was immediately reborn and rose from an ordinary man to be king”. The field itself experienced a rebirth when it was bought by Abraham; the entire Land arises in rebirth when the sons of Abraham realize his possession of it, our sovereignty.
Oz veGaon ZOOM Lectures
This coming Sunday, , November 15th at 7:00pm, G-d willing, we will hold another lecture (in Hebrew) as part of the Oz veGaon Lectures series on ZOOM.
This time we will hear from Tzipi Shlissel on the Arab riots of 1939, through her family’s experience.
Tzipi Shlissel, a resident of Hevron, mother of eleven, guide at the Hevron Heritage Center and author of the book Hevron Breaks its Silence (Hebrew), will tell us the story of how her grandmother was rescued along with her family in the riots of 1929 – a story that gives us a glance into the Jewish community of Hevron, the terrible destruction and crisis that it underwent in the riots of 1929 and about the efforts to rebuild. Tzipi will also relate to points of similarity to what is happening today.
