Dear friends,
Hanukah Sameah!
In what seems to be the final days of the current Knesset, the Land of Israel Lobby is succeeding to promote the regulation of the young settlement one more step toward normalization. This is a point of light, politically, diplomatically and for the settlement, for which we must thank the co-chairmen of the lobby, MKs Bezalel Smotrich and Haim Katz, and the lobby’s director, our friend, former MK Orit Struk, for their success. We wish them additional successes in further phases of the legislation and in enacting similar legislation that will strengthen Israel's Sovereignty over the Land of Israel.
Jerusalem and the Land of Israel are not to be divided!
In response to the outrageous remarks by the Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, about the possibility of dividing Jerusalem and turning it into a Palestinian capital, we published in the media a call for the prime minister and right-wing camp ministers to promote sovereignty over Ma'ale Adumim, Gush Etzion and Jerusalem that will not be subject to the whims of left-wing factors.
If it seemed to us that the Israeli leadership and the Israeli public had internalized the folly of the concept of partitioning the Land, partitioning Jerusalem, and establishment of an enemy state in the heartland, the statement of Minister Gantz came and proved that there is still much work facing us to clarify the obvious.
The application of sovereignty over Greater Jerusalem will establish, by law, the prohibition to promote any political step to partition the Land. It is incumbent upon the Prime Minister, as the leader of the right-wing camp, to immediately bring a proposal along these lines for government approval. Netanyahu will, thereby, restore his leadership and public credibility after he has not yet fulfilled his commitment to apply sovereignty in the Jordan Valley. He will, thereby, bolster our hold in the eternal city. He will, thereby, reinforce the Jewish majority in the capital of Israel, and he will, thereby, prevent the political programs that pose an existential threat to the future of Israel, and which strike a mortal blow to the Zionist vision.
The Battle with Corona does not cause us to Neglect Sovereignty
This week, as we do every year during Hanukah, we held the Sovereignty Youth seminar at the Oz veGaon preserve and this time it was entitled Explaining Sovereignty. We were moved and excited to see how the youth participates, asks questions, learns and delves into matters of sovereignty, as well as presenting and explaining material eloquently, clearly and impressively.
The seminar was held in memory of our dear friend Helen Freedman z"l, co-Executive Director of AFSI, who devoted her entire life to the Land of Israel. Helen supported our Sovereignty initiative from day one, all the way back in 2011. She was so happy to hear that we also created a youth Movement and would have been so happy to see the wonderful youth who are part of this.
As part of the seminar, the youths met with former Justice Minister, MK Ayelet Shaked. They wanted to hear from her about steps that her party was taking to promote sovereignty. Shaked spoke of the revolution that has occurred among the People during the past decade, since we began activity of the Sovereignty Movement, when the vision of sovereignty was considered delusional and unrealistic, but now the sovereignty plan is the main plan on the political agenda.
The youths wanted clarification from Shaked regarding statements that are heard from Yamina on the need to focus on the battle with Corona, and asked whether this means that the vision of sovereignty has been abandoned. You can read about Shaked’s response and about the session in general, between her and the youths, here.
“Sovereignty is the only realistic solution”
The youths heard a special and fascinating lecture during the seminar on the economic benefits of sovereignty.
Economist Eran Bar-Tal told of research that he led together with students from the Technion in which the benefits of sovereignty were explained in terms of land value, housing costs, manpower, control of capital, thwarting terror, etc.

To me, sovereignty is…
And this time, we have MK Zvi Hauser (Derech Eretz), Head of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee
“To me, sovereignty is the renewal of our ancient days. Realization of the Jewish People’s rights and the dream of two thousand years “.
Another dunam, another goat, by the Arabs
This week we received additional evidence of the apparent neglect resulting from the lack of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. While the paving of every street and certainly every Israeli road requires innumerable approvals, committees, discussions, votes, coordination, investigations, measurements, etc., etc., the PA Arabs are determining facts on the ground. This week it was between the Village of Duma, in Gush Shiloh and Tzir Alon. The PA started paving a road unhindered, despite it being in Area C, which is supposed to be under Israeli civil and military control.
In an interview published in Arutz 7, there was a report about Arab preparation of land for construction in Area C, on the organized planting of many hundreds of trees adjacent to the Jewish communities in order to prevent the possibility of expanding them, and all of this without the least Israeli response.

The quiet part of the war on terror
The war on terror does not begin and end with rifles. Often, the path passes through the legal area in Israel and abroad. One of the leaders in these difficult battles, who has brought about important victories on behalf of terror victims, in halting the flow of terror funds, in confiscating terror assets and more, is Atty. Nitzana Darshan Leitner, who is the chairwoman of Shurat Hadin.
We met Atty, Darshan Leitner for a special discussion as part of the Oz veGaon Zoom lectures series. In honor of the holiday of Hanukah, we have disseminated a video of her fascinating discussion. If you have not already heard her remarks, you are invited to click here to watch. In Hebrew
Do we live in a democracy?
