In a letter sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Sovereignty Movement calls for advancing Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria before the upcoming elections. “The settlement revolution must not be stopped halfway.”
Ahead of the “Sovereignty Youth” conference to be held next week in Jerusalem, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, heads of the Sovereignty Movement, together with the youth coordinators, sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In the letter, the movement calls on the government to advance the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria in the near future, even before the upcoming elections.
The two leaders argued that following Israel’s achievements on multiple battlefronts, the time has come for a “real change of direction in Judea and Samaria” warning against continuing a policy of restraint and containment instead of initiative and decisive action.
In the letter, the Sovereignty Movement writes: “Precisely at a time when the people of Israel are fighting a difficult and prolonged war on all fronts, and through steadfast determination are achieving significant victories against their enemies, the understanding has sharpened that the time has also come for a real change of direction in Judea and Samaria. The public living in Israel today understands more than ever that we must not wait, G-d forbid, for the next October 7th. Instead, we must take the diplomatic and security initiative into our own hands, from national responsibility and the understanding that only full Israeli sovereignty can ensure security, stability, and historical justice.”
“Mr. Prime Minister, in recent years the Government of Israel has been leading a significant settlement revolution in Judea and Samaria. The communities are expanding, the Jewish presence is strengthening, and the entire Zionist public feels that a historic window of opportunity has opened. Precisely for this reason, the process must not be stopped halfway. The settlement revolution must continue until sovereignty is applied in practice throughout Judea and Samaria” the letter states.
The letter concludes: “We call on you to lead this move now, before the elections — not as a political slogan, but as a necessary national step that expresses the natural and historic right of the people of Israel to their land, and the commitment of the State of Israel to the security of its citizens and its future. The many young people who will participate in the conference in Jerusalem seek to hear from courageous and clear leadership that the State of Israel is no longer satisfied with temporary management instead of decisive action, but is acting from vision, initiative, and determination. This is the call of the hour, and this is the national responsibility resting upon the Government of Israel at this time,” the letter states.
