Dear friends,
Greetings.
Just before the new government is sworn in, it seems that whether we are pleased with its composition or not, we must pray that the nationalist forces within it will act to deepen the People of Israel’s Jewish identity and strengthen the People’s bond with its only Land.
We also pray that the representatives of the nationalist camp in the next government will be able to block the dark and worrying trends that are already emerging, in light of declarations by the Left and the radical Left representatives in the government of their intentions to press for political steps in the spirit of the Oslo withdrawals.
In this newsletter, we want to focus on the activity of the youth after the extremely impressive conference that the youth held on Thursday attended by public figures, intellectuals and especially, the leaders of the next generation, who are members of the Sovereignty Youth Movement, who came in the hundreds from all parts of the Land, from Acre and Eilat, from Dimona, Tel Aviv, Efrat, Lod and other places. It seems that in every single town and village throughout the Land, there is a significant representation of Sovereignty Youth, working to promote the vision with many different kinds of hasbara activities.
The guests of honor at the conference were Jonathan Pollard and his wife Esther, who were received with song and dance, and were honored by planting a tree at the Oz veGaon preserve. They spoke with great warmth, faith and confidence of the justice of the People of Israel’s cause in the Land of Israel. The Pollards were extremely impressed by the enthusiasm of the youths, who were excited to meet with Pollard and hear his personal-nationalist story.
Jerusalem is our main joy
We would like to direct you to the extensive reports in the Sovereignty site about remarks from the participants of the conference, which included the launch of the Greater Jerusalem Initiative, in which our movement calls on Israel’s leaders to expand the border of the Municipality of Jerusalem to include Mevaserret in the west, Ma’ale Adumim in the east, Gush Etzion in the south and some of the towns of Binyamin in the north. Expanding the borders of Jerusalem will require the application of the Basic Law of Jerusalem over the expanse, thus preventing the possibility of political negotiations to transfer these areas to foreign hands. This will also strengthen the Jewish majority in the capital and turn it into a metropolis as is customary in many of the world’s capitals.
They will not dictate to us
In his speech, Jonathan Pollard called for demanding that the new government restore the four towns that were uprooted in northern Samaria to Israel, approve the town of Eviatar and internalize the fact that none of the world’s leaders can dictate to Israel where to build, where to live and where to march. “The days of the ghetto are over”, he said. Take over the bridges
Rabbi of the City of Safed and the Sovereignty Movement, Rav Shmuel Eliahu, called on the youth to take over the bridges in all parts of the Land, hang signs of Sovereignty and love for the Land and demonstrate the true spirit of the People. The head of the Kerem Yeshiva in Yavne, Rav Aharon Friedman, mentioned the true source of Israel’s sovereignty in its Land. Click here to read the remarks made by the rabbis.
There is no sovereignty in Jerusalem
Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Aryeh King placed the responsibility for the lack of the enforcement of sovereignty on the Prime Minister’s shoulders, who does not allow Jews to enter into 8 Arab neighborhoods in the capital and prevents building in Atarot and Givat Hamatos. Click here to read his remarks in the joint panel with the head of Gush Etzion Council Shlomo Ne’eman.
It all begins with believing in the justice of our cause
Tzvi Yehezkeli, a commentator for Channel 13 News, drew the connection between the riots of recent weeks and the Arab trend, which began even before the establishment of the state. According to him, from the Farhud to the recent riots and the shelling from Gaza, it is all the same phenomenon: expropriation and expulsion of the Jews: “It’s not because of the ‘occupation’ or neglect”, he stated. “Our leaders do not hear about the Arab mood. When they see that we do not believe in the justice of our cause, they become stronger”. Click here to read more of his remarks.
Build, because we live here
Yael Shevah, the widow of Raziel Shevah, obm, spoke of the night when she announced her intention to bury her husband in Havat Gilead, hoping that this would cause it to be legalized. She called for establishing towns because we live in the Land and not only to commemorate the fallen. Click here to read her remarks.
Uplifting pictures
The sight of hundreds of youths gathering in order to strengthen love for the Land of Israel and to equip themselves with more knowledge binding them to the future of the Land was an extremely gladdening, endearing and strengthening sight. Click here to see pictures from the impressive conference.
