Dear friends,
Shalom.
The new government is taking its first steps and parallel to the appropriate criticism of its composition, it is our obligation to pray to the Almighty to guide its leaders, ministers and advisors with sound advice. They and their decisions will chart the state’s path in the near future and as those to whom the future of the state and the People is important, we must hope and wish that it will take good, strong and beneficial steps.
In this spirit, we add to the call addressed to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, to keep his promises to take two vital steps immediately with his entry into the prime minister’s office – normalizing the young settlement enterprise and eliminating Hamas.
Normalizing the young settlement enterprise is a humanitarian necessity which enjoys a broad Israeli consensus among the members of Knesset. It is shared by all factions of the Zionist home, Labor, Blue and White, Yesh Atid and the right-wing parties. The step of normalization will allow for normative life for entire families who live today without the regular supply of water and electricity, and who make their way to their homes on unpaved roads in all kinds of weather with a burning sense of Zionist mission. These families deserve recognition and appreciation from the entire People and the minimal step that must be taken by the Israeli leadership is to normalize by law the communities that they live in.
The elimination of Hamas, a step that was also promised by the Prime Minister before he took office, has also become an existential necessity for Israel. Hamas raises its head and hurls threats aimed at Israel’s heart and as is its habit, tests the limits of Israeli response. It does this by sending incendiary balloons, by continuing to dig terror tunnels and arming itself, not stopping for a moment. The government of Israel must make clear to the Hamas terrorists the true limit, which the organization tests over and over, the limit being any attempt to harm the security of Israeli citizens and Israeli sovereignty.
To these two steps our movement adds another important step, which we have been promoting energetically in the past few weeks: expanding the borders of Jerusalem as part of the Greater Jerusalem Initiative. This step will make clear to the People of Israel and to the entire world the importance of Jerusalem for the Jewish People; it will constitute a resolute response to Arab aggressiveness at home and from abroad, which seeks to undermine Israel’s sovereignty in Jerusalem in every way and it will be the beginning of a much broader step of applying Israeli sovereignty over the entire Land. With the proper hasbara, we can expect this step also to enjoy broad consent in the coalition and in the opposition.
We may expect that the composition of the government might make it difficult for the Prime Minister to keep all of his promises, but these steps, the destruction of Hamas, normalization of the young settlement enterprise and the promotion of Greater Jerusalem, have – or will have – the broadest consent among the public and the leadership. He can take these steps and the opposition right-wing camp will thank him and praise him for it.
Jerusalem is building a coalition
Praise and blessings to Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar Lev of the Labor party for his clear decision to hold the Flag march and his announcement that Hamas would not decide for Israel what she can do in her capital.
This statement, especially coming from a left-wing person, expresses the deep feeling among the people in Israel regarding the centrality and importance of Jerusalem for all of us, Right and Left alike. This is what led us to launch the Greater Jerusalem Initiative last week , a project that calls for the expansion of the borders of Jerusalem as a declaration of our Israeli-Zionist intentions vis-à-vis our enemies who seek to undermine Israel’s sovereignty in her capital.
We launched the initiative at the impressive Sovereignty Youth Conference, and from here on, we are continuing, together with the youth, to promote the step, both with hasbara in the Israeli street in the entire Land and vis-a-vis the decision-makers in the Israeli Knesset. We will meet members of Knesset individually and lay out the full plan for them; we will explain the benefits and the importance and we will form a “Greater Jerusalem coalition” that will include members of Knesset from all factions in the Knesset who will then wait for the political, diplomatic and practical window of opportunity to lead Israel in this step.
Activating warning sensors
American President Joe Biden has decided to name Thomas Nides as U.S. Ambassador to Israel and in doing this, he has activated a warning to the new Israeli government. Nides was a senior member of Barack Obama’s administration and is considered to be a senior diplomat, who is also connected to the elite among the present administration. This assignment is an indication of Biden’s serious intention to plumb the depths of the political discussion between Israel and the PA and promote a clear agenda of realizing the idea of the two states solution.
During this period, we must be vigilant to identify warning signs and issue cautions to right-wing figures in the new Israeli government. We will also have to strengthen their position vis-à-vis their partners in the government who advocate and support the implementation of the American policy. There may also be manifestations of subversion and diplomatic steps carried out behind the prime minister’s back, without the knowledge and consent of right-wing members of the government.
Past experience teaches that such attempts of subversion and covert activities have led to the disastrous Oslo accords. We will have to mobilize the forces and sources of information in Jerusalem and Washington to warn against sliding down a slippery diplomatic slope.
It is not only a violation of sovereignty. It is dangerous
This week we received a memento of the justification of our long-standing call to dismantle and abolish the Civil Administration. Our call focused on the obligation to dismantle the Administration as an expression of the application of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria along with transfer of the various authorities in these areas to the relevant government offices. We also spoke of the situation where the Civil Administration perpetuates military rule for half a million citizens of Israel who are residents of Judea and Samaria and how it leads to an extremely severe violation of their civil rights. But now, it has become clear that the Civil Administration’s conduct is responsible for dangerous security situations.
In research that was published by Channel 13 News, it has become clear that Arab residents of Judea and Samaria are employed by the Civil Administration; they receive a salary from Israel but serve as PA moles, passing information to the PA security apparatuses and preventing the sale of land to Jews before they are implemented.
Watch a disturbing clip from the research done by the people of Ad Kan, who are dedicated to exposing the unknown truth of PA activism in Judea and Samaria.
Marching, protesting and reinforcing
Our movement joins the call to set out with marches against the PA takeover of Area C. The marches will take place throughout Judea and Samaria this coming Monday at 4:30pm. The event is supported by all regional and local councils of Judea and Samaria and different extra-parliamentary organizations.
For those for whom it is difficult to march, our Sovereignty Movement will hold a support vigil for the marchers simultaneously with the marches. We will hold the vigil at the Gush Etzion Junction at 4:30pm. Join us with flags in hand and courage in your heart. Together, we will awaken the government of Israel and the Israeli authorities to the Arab theft of our Land that is happening every single day and is ignored by Israel.
