Dear friends,
Shalom.
The meeting between Meretz ministers and PA Chairman Abu Mazen, which occurred following the visit to Abu Mazen by the Defense Minister, proves to us once again, that anywhere we do not act to promote the Right’s vision we will see Israeli policy tending more and more to the Left. Wherever there is not Israeli sovereignty we see MERETZ’ leftist ideas promoted energetically.
We have therefore found it correct to publish a statement praising Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked for her remarks during her visit to the Emirates, that a Palestinian state will not be established under the present Prime Minister, nor under the rotational Prime Minister, Yair Lapid.
However, in our response to the minister’s remarks, we emphasized that is not enough to issue statements ruling out the dangerous ideas of the Left – we must act to promote the vision of the Right, the vision of sovereignty:
Lately, we have been witness to a consistent campaign by Leftist elements to divide the Land and establish a Palestinian State in its heart; we have also seen how people are now eagerly lining up to pay respects to PA Chairman Abu Mazen, who deems IDF soldiers and commanders as worthy of being tried in court in the Hague.
Against this background, Interior Minister Shaked’s remarks are of great import, however, our movement appeals to her with a request: It is not enough to block ideas of a Palestinian state. We must promote the Israeli initiative to apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria as a first step, starting with the Greater Jerusalem initiative. Only in this way, will it be possible to cut off the Arab hopes of establishing a state upon the ruins of Israel. The application of sovereignty is a necessary step for the security of the State of Israel and the fulfillment of the People of Israel’s historic destiny in its Land.
We shall not abandon the field of policy and diplomacy to the wanton ideas of the Left.
Welcoming the rabbi
Within the framework of opening the academic year in the Havruta Beit Midrash at the Oz veGaon preserve, this week we held an exciting reception for the new rabbi of Gush Etzion, Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon, who teaches in the Beit Midrash about the world of the Shmittah year.
Dozens of Beit Midrash students took part in the moving event (which was a surprise for the rabbi).
A different kind of spirit
Almost a year after the passing of our friend Helen Freedman, obm, Chairwoman of AFSI, this coming week we will hold a commemorative ceremony to perpetuate her legacy. Helen, obm, led dozens of groups of Jews from the U.S. with spirit and with deeds, on visits to Judea and Samaria to become deeply familiar with the importance of the vision of sovereignty and the necessity to promote it in every possible way and at all times.
The different kind of spirit with which she inspired us all, served as a wonderful example, calling us all to the Land of Israel. In the presence of family members, friends and loved ones, we will tell the story of Helen’s life and we will commit ourselves to continue to march in her path, the Jewish-Zionist mission connecting the People of Israel to the entire Land of Israel.
Condolences
We would like to express our condolences to our dear friend, a prominent figure who boldly leads the Land of Israel spirit in the Knesset, Member of Knesset Orit Struk, on the passing of her mother, Esti Cohen, obm, may you be consloed in the building of Eretz Yisrael, Orit.
