In yet another tour of the Sovereignty Movement, we were again exposed to the difficult and intolerable situation of the loss of governance and Israeli sovereignty in the Negev. A few examples:
*There is human trafficking of women in the Negev!
*How can it be that a Bedouin woman gives birth 4 times per year?
*There are people in Israel who get free plots for to build on!
*Why has the paving of the southern part of Route 6 stopped?
Did you know all of this?
,"In the Negev, the People of Israel will be tested" – is what David Ben Gurion said. We have failed this test.
In another fascinating and important tour by the Sovereignty Movement, we got an alarming answer to these questions and to many others as well.
A) It turns out that a Bedouin woman in Israel can give birth every 3 months, at least according to the records. How does this happen? It’s very simple. A Bedouin man in the Negev marries several women. Polygamy!
After he takes a wife with an Israeli identification card, he buys more women in Judea and Samaria. Yes, buts them!
Then they all come to the Israeli hospital to give birth with the same identification card as the first legal wife and no one checks to see if the person under the hijab is the one that is written on the card, so according to Israeli records, the same woman gives birth again and again, every few months.
2) It turns out that the state allocates free plots of land to build on for the Bedouins. Why don’t veterans get such plots? We are still asking…
3) It turns out that the claims of neglect and discrimination are not based on reality. Take, for example, the Bedouins in Lakia, who simply do not pay taxes, and this is why the city looks so neglected, lacking infrastructure, with trash all over the place. It has nothing to do with discrimination.
4) It turns out that the paving of Route 6 was stopped in the south at a certain spot only because the Bedouins claim that they own the land and the State of Israel is intimidated by them.
Dozens of Sovereignty Movement activists saw all of this and more, on another tour by the movement. Our guide was Naomi Kahn from the Regavim movement.
It seems that indeed, there is nothing like seeing things for yourself to understand the harsh reality that exists and to know that the situation cannot continue.
Israel must wake up. The time has come for true sovereignty over the entire Land!
Join us for future tours.
