The Sovereignty Movement calls on the Prime Minister and the heads of the coalition parties to fix the State of Israel’s eastern border by applying sovereignty over the Jordan Valley, a step that enjoys a broad national consensus.
In a letter that was sent to the heads of the coalition parties, the co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement call for the immediate application of Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley as a first step that enjoys a broad consensus among the Israeli public.
“Our congratulations on the success of the government and the coalition both for passing the budget and for repealing the law of Disengagement in Homesh and northern Samaria. Now it is time for the next necessary step: The immediate application of sovereignty – in the Jordan Valley specifically and in Judea and Samaria in general” write the co-chairwomen of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar.
In their letter, the two women note that “The vision of sovereignty wins much support in the government, in the coalition and even among MKs in the opposition. This is a rare opportunity and who knows if it will ever come again, when a coherently right-wing government is in power that supports the application of sovereignty and there are other supporters of sovereignty among the opposition.”
“We call on you, the heads of coalition parties, to apply Israeli sovereignty in the Jordan Valley first and immediately. We must take advantage of the present window of opportunity and strike while the iron is hot to apply Israeli sovereignty in the area as quickly as possible. This is the way to realize the vision of all the generations of the People of Israel’s return to its Land, a vision whose fulfillment began with the Six Day War and its end – can be accomplished by you.
The Jordan Valley is the best first objective, since it is in an area where there is broad national consensus, from the Right and the Left. This step will fix the State of Israel’s eastern border, will restore the People of Israel to a momentum of political Zionist action and will be a strong basis for strengthening Israel’s security and economy.”
In their letter to Netanyahu and the heads of the coalition parties Katsover and Matar go on to say emphatically that “Just as sovereignty was applied in Jerusalem and the Golan Heights by the Israeli government, which was recognized by other countries only afterward, the same will happen now. We must apply sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and later over Judea and Samaria, and the sooner the better. It is within your power to be the ones who complete the historic process of the People of Israel’s return to its Land in the full sense of the term. ‘And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? (The Scroll of Esther 4:14)’”
