Dear friends,
Greetings.

The entire House of Israel joins the family of Yigal Yehoshua, obm, in mourning his loss. Yigal was murdered by the Arab rioters in his city of Lod. The family’s grief is shared by the entire People of Israel. We pray, together with the entire House of Israel, for the well-being of the many who were wounded, in body and in spirit, as a result of the shocking riots and group attacks that we have experienced in recent days.

Along with the deep sorrow and pain, we feel admiration for the Jewish families for returning and continuing to live in cities such as Lod, Ramle, Acre and Haifa, because of their sense of mission and dedication to Zionism and society. The People of Israel needs the special and wondrous light that these families radiate around themselves. The People of Israel will come to appreciate them and be grateful to them for the pioneering spirit that they show, day after day.

The necessary response: in Jerusalem

These days, and in light of the Arab offensive which seeks, first and foremost, to shake our sovereignty in Jerusalem, the government of Israel must lead a national Greater Jerusalem initiative.

The Jerusalem metropolitan area would extend from Mevaseret Zion in the West to Ma’ale Adumim in the East; Gush Etzion in the South to the towns of central Benjamin in the north. The terror from Gaza is awakening in the area of Jerusalem because Jerusalem is all, it is the heart of the nation, it is the object of our longing and our future.

There is a national consensus on Jerusalem from the Right and the Left, which the Israeli government can use as leverage, not as a response to terror but as a nationalist, Zionist and sovereign statement that the People of Israel has longed for and awaited, for two thousand years. There is a unified metropolis around the capital in many countries in the world and this should be seen as a model for Israel as well. In this way, the People of Israel will make clear the central significance of Jerusalem in the life of the nation.

Ceasefire ?

It seems that one must reach the abyss of shame, submission, in order to rise. In its conduct, the Israeli government transmits a weakness that strengthens the enemy's spirit and invites further attacks from within and without. The decision not to complete the mission means the abandonment of our brothers and sisters in the south, the abandonment of the missing boys, the abandonment of the future for some imaginary moments of silence that will be used entirely by the Arab enemy for armament, intensification and upgrading of the Gaza forces of evil.

The domestic Arab rioters see such decisions as an open invitation to continue to attack, to break, to shatter, to kill.

This crisis brings us back to the fundamental question: to whom does this land belong? If we do not give a crushing answer,  we will reach a terrible low. Out of this abyss we have no choice but to rise, to raise a generation of new leadership, this desert generation of weak leaders will pass and another spirit will blow in the land.

In the spirit of the words of Caleb when hearing the weakness of the spies: “We can surely go up and take possession of it, for we can indeed overcome it." (Bamidbar 13,30)

Right and left in a joint call

Together with other representatives of the Sovereignty Movement, we took part this week in a vigil and a call, along with the Shaul, Goldin and Mengistu families in the demand for the Israeli government to take the decision that the operation in the Gaza Strip will not cease until the sons have been returned to their families.

This moral and humanitarian demand unites the Right and the Left, young and old, religious and non-religious, people of the center and those living in the periphery, and this is how the impressive vigil was as well - uniting and unifying all sectors of the People: we will not stop until they return the sons.

A painful price

We would like to praise Member of Knesset Gideon Sa’ar for the vitally important legislation that he proposed this week to cancel the citizenship or permanent residency for terrorists and terror operatives.

This legislation is necessary in the practical arena, since there is no logic in giving citizenship to those who wish to bring about the destruction of the state that grants them citizenship, but in other arenas as well. This proposal also has clear and obvious security ramifications. A terrorist who desires to do harm will think carefully about the personal ramifications the act will have for him. Israeli Arabs are well aware of the benefits that they derive from living in the State of Israel, they see their brothers in the countries to the north, east, and south and understand quite well how good their lives are as citizens of Israel and that they enjoy civil and human rights. If it is clear to a terrorist that all of these benefits will be taken from him, he will quickly shelve any thought of attacks or joining a terror organization.

This legislation is also the ideological statement of a sovereignty State of Israel, which is no longer forgiving toward those who desire her destruction. There is no place for such lenience and now, there will also be a steep price to pay.

The first swallow

And another thing regarding Sa’ar’s proposed legislation. It is also proper and correct to praise the head of the Likud faction, Member of Knesset Miki Zohar, who announced that his party would support the proposed legislation. The initiative and the support show us the power of ideological unity to promote positive and effective initiatives for the People of Israel and the State of Israel.

We will continue to hope that Israeli leaders will see this parliamentary event as the harbinger of joint work in a broad, cohesive right-wing government, unified in the desire for the good of the entire nation. This is what the voters have chosen, the people want this, the state needs this. All that remains now is to wait for the first leader to jump courageously into the roiling political volcano and give the people what it wants.

Get ready!

As we’ve reported in recent weeks, we are in the midst of preparations for a large youth conference in which famous journalist Amit Segal, Yael Shevah, Atty. Nitzana Darshan-Leitner, heads of councils, heads of youth movements and many, many others will take part. The event will also include the band Nismeha and the conference’s organizers are also preparing surprises and new initiatives, new hasbara materials, etc.

Tell your children and grandchildren about it.

Shabbat shalom
May we hear good news!
