Mknister Smotrich, in his speech congratulating Donald Trump: The only way to remove this danger from the agenda is to apply Israeli sovereignty over the communities in Judea and Samaria. I have no doubt that President Trump, who demonstrated courage and resolve in making decisions in his first term, will support the State of Israel in this process.
Minister of Finance and Security Minister Bezalel Smotrich has instructed his staff to prepare steps to apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. He announced this in his congratulatory speech marking the election of Donald Trump to another term as president of the United States.
Minister Smotrich congratulated Trump on his sweeping victory, in contrast to expectations, polls and the opinion of media and celebrity figures in the U.S., and wished him success in his new-old position. “After years when, unfortunately, the present administration chose to interfere in Israeli democracy and did not personally cooperate with me as the State of Israel’s Minister of Finance, I congratulate the future administration and look forward to joint work and strong cooperation for the sake of strengthening the economic and commercial relations between our two states”.
Smotrich stated in his speech that “Trump’s victory brings with it an important opportunity for the State of Israel. In his first term, President Trump took dramatic steps such as moving the American embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, recognizing the Golan Heights and the decision regarding the legality of the settlements in Judea and Samaria, as well as the Abraham Accords of peace in exchange for peace. We were just a step away from applying sovereignty over the communities of Judea and Samaria, and now, the time has come to do it. Today, there is a broad consensus among the coalition and the opposition in all parts of society opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state, which would pose an existential danger to the State of Israel. 2025 is the year of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria”.
“The only way to remove this danger from the agenda is to apply Israeli sovereignty over the communities in Judea and Samaria.
This is our answer to Sinwar, may his name and memory be erased, and to all the nazis of the entire axis from Iran, Hizb’Allah, Yemen to what is left of the terrorists of Hamas in Gaza and the terrorists in Judea and Samaria. They viewed the seventh of October as the first phase of the destruction of the State of Israel, and planned later to conquer us from within, and launch an attack of slaughter, murder and rape from the Arab cities in Judea and Samaria to all the large population centers in the heart of the country, so these new nazis must pay a price in territory to be taken from them forever, in Gaza as well as Judea and Samaria. We will end their hope of destroying us and will declare to the entire world that we are here in our own state and are not going anywhere”, said the minister.
As noted, in his speech Smotrich announced the beginning of practical steps for the promotion of sovereignty. “I gave instructions to the Defense Department’s Directorate of Settlement and the Civil Administration to begin professional and comprehensive staff work to prepare the required infrastructure for the application of sovereignty. And in the future, I intend to propose a government resolution stating that the government of Israel will work with President Trump’s new administration and the international community to apply sovereignty and American recognition”.
In his opinion, “Even if, at first, there will be those who oppose it outwardly, with some kind of statements, including the Arab countries, we have already proven with the Abraham Accords that when Israel stands up for herself and for the justice of her cause, ultimately, she wins support and respect from the U.S. and neighboring Arab countries. Therefore, we must go forward with great energy on this path. I have no doubt that President Trump, who has demonstrated courage and resolve with his decisions of the first term, will support the State of Israel in this process”
