The Sovereignty Movement congratulates the hundreds of activists who gave generously of their time to determine facts on the ground in Adorayim, which is in South Hevron Hills and which, we now learn, is to be normalized as an Israeli town.
On the publication of the Israeli government’s intention to regularize five towns in Judea and Samaria, including Adorayim, the Sovereignty Movement congratulates the government’s ministers on returning to the Zionist path of pioneering, settlement and standing strong against international pressures.
The co-chairwomen of the movement, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, note the years 2010-11, when hundreds of the movement’s activists gave of their time and energy to fight for Adorayim. “Without these dear activists, Adorayim, as well as other strategic areas, would long since have been captured by the Arab enemy, who was determining facts on the ground that were destructive for the future and security of the State of Israel.”
“Every week, dozens of Women in Green activists would come in all kinds of weather to present a Jewish presence at the place. Among them were also residents of Beit Hagai and Otniel, and Rav Avraham Yitzhak Schwartz, who is presently the rabbi of Kiryat Arba.
Without the necessities of water and electricity and in a ruined and filthy building which took shape gradually, all their efforts were made with the long-term Zionist view toward the future, with the understanding that Israeli sovereignty over its Land is acquired step by step, with public advocacy, legislation and land.
It was clear to the movement’s activists that there would not be an immediate reward for their actions, nevertheless they worked energetically and with determination to have a Jewish presence at the place.
At the same time, the Council of South Hevron Hills worked to try and populate the place and after some time, succeeded.
Today Adorayim receives the Israeli government’s official approval and will be able to grow to become a prosperous and flourishing town, with large families who build their homes with a Zionist vision and pioneering implementation”, say Katsover and Matar, adding their congratulations to South Hevron Hills Council, “Which, while promoting pioneering work in the field, also promoted the necessary steps with decision makers in order to bring about these days of great news. Now, we need to move on to the additional step for the safeguarding of these efforts- the step of application of sovereignty".
